Process Engineer (Reference number: PJ003)

1.    Summary of Role

Talbot is a South African water solutions advisor and turnkey project implementation company with an international client base servicing the African market and beyond.

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join the business. The successful incumbent will be responsible for all the process engineering aspects of assigned projects within the company’s EPC and EPCM portfolio, as well as consulting, proposal and estimate development and product and technology research and development.

A current portfolio of project designs and proposals will be required at the time of interview.

  • 30% of time (Regional & International)
  • Flexible working arrangements required

4.    Primary Responsibilities

  • Concept, Basic, and Detail process design of turnkey water and wastewater solutions and plants
  • Cost estimate and proposal development for turnkey water and wastewater solutions and plants
  • Consulting, site visits, and client interfacing
  • Supplier and Technology identification, selection, review, and innovation
  • Conference paper submissions and presentation
  • Pilot plant trial design and execution
  • Participation in technology and IP research and development
  • Accountable for turnkey projects in Technical Lead capacity

5.    Your technical Skills

  • BSc or BEng Chemical Engineering or similar with exposure to other engineering disciplines
  • Post graduate process-related qualification will be an advantage
  • ECSA Registration
  • 5 years’ experience as a process engineer in a water and wastewater consulting and projects environment and/or similar experience in a food manufacturing design environment.
  • Computer literacy in relevant project and business management packages

6.    Your Personal Attributes

  • Experience and capability to find a sound balance between process design, cost effective manufacturing processes, practical construction methods and reliability, operability, and maintainability
  • Sound theoretical knowledge and technical ability for plant and equipment design
  • Concept to detail design experience of plant and equipment
  • General knowledge of engineering sciences and technology applications in the water and wastewater treatment fields
  • Working knowledge of SHE and Quality assurance methodologies and practices
  • Leadership capability & business acumen
  • Project Engineering and Project Management Skills
  • Sound knowledge of procurement mechanisms and tender development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and effective presentation skills
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutions
  • Team player
  • Able to work independently
