2.Who we would like to join our Team

We are looking for a passionate and commitment Process Controller who aligns to our business drivers to join the Talbot Team to support our ambition to become one of Africa’s leading water solutions companies.

The Process Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Water and Effluent Treatment Plant in the Mossel Bay area, working closely with Project Supervisor to ensure compliance with drinking water standards and general discharge limits.

This is a fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years.

3.Primary Responsibilities
  • Directly operating the Water and effluent treatment plant (includes anaerobic digestion) to required operating and design standards.
  • Initiative towards problem solving and resolving issues.
  • Starting pumps, turning valves and working on a SCADA.
  • Recording rates of flow, temperature, pH and other parameters to ensure efficient treatment operation.
  • Performing laboratory analysis to determine water and effluent quality and plant performance.
  • Calibration of the onsite portable laboratory equipment
  • Preparation and handling of chemicals
  • Opening and closing of valves, starting of motors and pumps as per established procedures.
  • Checking all equipment, tanks and piping for visual and audible problems.
  • Submitting key data to our data specialist daily by e-mail, logging of data on our online platform and interpretation of such data.
  • Preparing incident reports with trouble shooting methodology.
  • Top up chemical dosing tanks as and when required.
  • Monitoring stock levels of all consumables on site.
  • General Housekeeping.
  • Attend production meetings as and when required.
  • Collection of samples throughout the treatment process
  • Routine first line Maintenance such as lubrication
  • Report all incidents, accidents and near misses to your Supervisor within immediately or within 24 hours.
  • Report any defective Electrical or Mechanical plant or equipment to the Project Supervisor.
  • Uphold 5S standards: Maintain the areas in a clean state and perform other housekeeping tasks that may be necessary.

Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Ensure the correct PPE is worn at all times.
  • Report all incidents, accidents and near misses to the Project Supervisor within immediately or within 24 hours.
  • Report any defective Electrical or Mechanical plant or equipment to the Project Supervisor.
  • Uphold 5S standards: Maintain the areas in a clean state and perform other housekeeping tasks that may be necessary.

Other:

  • Maintain solid relationships with your colleagues and client.
  • Submission of timesheets and leave forms diligently and timeously.
  • In addition to the above, any reasonable task assigned by the Supervisor.
4.What Qualifications and experience do you need to bring to the Team
  • Minimum Requirements
  • N2/N3 Water and/ Wastewater
  • Basic understanding of SCADA controlled systems
  • Basic understanding of chemistry & exposure to laboratory work
  • The ability to work independently and present reports
  • Computer literate
  • The following would be advantageous
  • 3 years’ experience and involved with anaerobic digester technology
  • ND: Chemical Engineering
