Customer Service Consultant (Laboratory)

Summary of Role

Talbot is a South African water solutions advisor and turnkey project implementation company with an international client base servicing the African market and beyond.


We are looking for a Customer Service Consultant to join our Laboratory team to support our ambition to become one of Africa’s leading water solutions companies.  The successful incumbent will be accountable for the customer relationship management aspect of the laboratory.


How you will contribute
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers
  • Conduct customer surveys to ensure customers are satisfied with our service
  • Receive and manage complaints (if required)
  • Streamline customer communication and service


Primary Responsibilities
  • Contact point for all customer related enquiries in the laboratory
    • Receive all telephonic enquiries and either resolve or direct to relevant staff member
    • Receive walk-in customers requesting quotation/ advice on testing
    • Feedback and follow up to customers on matters arising when required.
  • Develop quotations/ tender documents when required.
  • Support the Sales team with any administrative matters in the office.
  • Maintain the customer database to ensure current. This will include adding new information and keeping all data current.
  • Undertake the laboratory feedback survey
    • Issue the survey as agreed in the laboratory
    • Collate the feedback and issue report
    • Manage outcomes by following up and facilitating implementation of any corrective action required.
    • Record all matters and retain records.
    • Develop statistical report for management review feedback.
  • Receive and manage complaints
    • Receive all complaints and develop a log of complaints.
    • Oversee the progress of the investigation.
    • Feedback to customer.
    • Record all outcomes and retain records.
    • Develop statistical report for management review feedback.


Your technical Skills
  • Tertiary qualification in the Science field.
  • At least two (2) years customer service experience in a laboratory or suitably similar technical environment.
  • Computer skills, (MS-Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with using a version of a LIMS
  • Able to manage own workload, set and meet deadlines and operate independently with minimum levels of supervision
